REMINGTON 11-48 Description. The Remington Model 11-48 is a semi-automatic shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms as the first of its "new generation" semi-automatics produced after World War II. It came with a compensator / variable choke that doesn't look like any I'm familiar with. The choke seems to be "endlessly variable" with no stops for various settings, and I haven't patterned it yet.The 11-48 is a simpler design. 2. The 1100 reduces recoil more than the 11-48. 3. The 1100 requires more frequent cleaning, to keep the gas operating mechanism functioning properly. 4. When needed, parts for the 11-48 are a bit more difficult to locate. 5. When I first dissassembled it I used the instruction manual on the remington web site for the 1100/11-87. They are similar enough that you should have no problem figuring it out. Basically you need to take off the barrel. then push out the two push pins.
