Hard to tell the exact serial number, depending on how you hold the gun. If I hold the gun and look at the serial number on the bottom of the handle - and the barrel is pointing to my left the serial number is 60699.The "dash" number, 10- (dash) 7, indicates an engineering change, in this case the gas ring on the standard barrel model 10 was moved from the yoke to the cylinder. The 10-7 series started in 1977. The same change in the heavy barreld model 10 became the 10-8 series, same year. Recheck your serial number. A Model 10-7 can't have a serial number of C359288 (the B97447 is not a serial) because that C series number is from around 1956 which is before S&W model marked their guns. I believe that S&W began stamping the one line "Made in USA" on the right side after 1921. The large ejector rod knob went away in the late twenties. Correct serial number is on the butt and at the rear of the cylinder.

She said it was manufactured in 1962. It is chambered for the .38 S&W Round, and has a 3 3/16" barrel. The only serial number I can find is on the bottom of the grip but of the revolver. The number has only four digits, 36xx. The revolver is in very good mechanical condition with a clean up-pitted barrel. Your gun is not as old as you may think, it left the factory in 1965, so it is getting some age on it though. Hope that helps.
